Getting started with PricePanda (step-by-step instructions)

Welcome to the PricePanda app! This guide will walk you through the steps to enable and customize the price-per-unit feature for your products. Let’s get started!

Activate PricePanda

  • Download the PricePanda app from the Shopify App Store.
  • Go to your Shopify store.
  • In the left-hand menu, click on Apps.
  • Select PricePanda from the list of installed apps.
  • In the top-right corner, click on Settings.
  • Click on Enable to activate the app.

  • This will redirect you to Shopify’s App Embeds page.
  • Locate PricePanda - Price Per Unit and use the toggle switch to turn it on.

Your app is now active and ready to use.

Customize Your Settings

Now that PricePanda is activated, it's time to customize your settings. To do this, head over to the PricePanda dashboard and, under 'Customise Your Product Pricing', click on 'Customise Settings'.

This will take you to the Settings page, where you can customise how the unit price is displayed for your products.

On this page, you'll find several fields that allow you to control how unit prices are displayed. Below is a brief explanation of each setting and its purpose:

  • Unit of Measurement: Select how your products will be measured (e.g., pieces, grams, kilograms, square feet). This will be shown after the price per unit.
  • Set your Currency: Choose the currency symbol that should be used when displaying the unit price. For example: $ , , or £ .
  • Define the Number of Decimals: Select how many decimal places you want to display in the unit price. For example, choosing 2 will display prices like '$5.25', 3 will show '$5.253', and 4 will show '$5.2531'
  • Format: Define how the price per unit should appear. You can use the default format shown or click “or create your custom price per unit format” to fully customise it using placeholders like [currency] , [price_per_unit] , and [unit_of_measurement] .
  • Use default settings for all products: If checked, this will apply the settings across all your products automatically.

Once you've filled in all the necessary details, simply click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page to apply your settings — and you're all set!

Step 3: Add Products

Now it’s time to start adding products to display their unit prices. You can configure your products in two ways:

  • Individual Upload: Select a product from your catalog and click Add to update it one at a time.
  • Bulk upload: Use a CSV file to upload and update multiple products at once. This is ideal for managing large catalogs efficiently.

Setting unit price for Products and Variants

This page lets you set how the price per unit is calculated and displayed for each variant of a product. In this example, the product is Bookshelf Bookmark, but the same settings apply to any product in your store.

  • Number of Units: Enter the total number of individual units in the product variant. For example, if the variant includes a pack of 15 bookmarks (as shown), you would enter 15 here.
  • Unit of Measurement: This is the label that tells customers what kind of unit you're using, like piece , pack , bottle , gram , etc. It appears in the final label, like: $0.50 per piece or €2.00 per 100g
  • Available Values for Display Format: This section lets you use dynamic tags to customize how the price per unit appears on your storefront.Tags like [currency] , [price_per_unit] , and [unit_of_measurement] help format the display (e.g., $0.40 per piece ). Or you can use the dropdown to choose a format or click "create your custom price per unit format" to write your own.

📝 Note:

  • If your product has multiple variants, like the Bookshelf Bookmark example (with packs of 15 and 30 bookmarks), make sure to enter the correct number of units for each one.
  • Want to use a different unit of measurement (like "box" instead of "piece") or change how the price per unit is displayed for a specific variant? Just uncheck the "Default Settings" box next to that variant — this will let you enter a custom unit, unit quantity, or display format tailored to that specific option.

Don’t forget to hit Update to save your changes — and you’re all set!

  2. Click on any product title to view or edit its details.
  3. Enable or disable products as needed to control how pricing is displayed in your store.
  4. You can also delete a product from the list if you no longer want it tracked or displayed.

That's It!

Your Shopify store is now set up with PricePanda, and your customers will be able to see the price per unit alongside the product price.
